Bah-kum of Kung kingdom decides to forgive his cousin who is the king (king Akwo the 1st of Kung kingdom), but makes a solemn decision to stay away from the king. His son by name Che, wonders why his father will forgive someone and still decides to stay away from the person, he keeps demanding for an explanation from his father.
It’s a cold evening , Che joins his father under the broad-leaved mango tree at the center of the compound.
“Father” he called out, “why is it that you never give me an explanation when ever I ask you about the problem you have with the king?”. Bah-kum stared 🙄 at his son without offering a word🤐. “Father I won’t leave here today unless you let me know the whole thing” the boy added . His father decides to speak. ” I am going to explain to you my son, since you won’t let me rest but I will tell you what is going on only on one condition” the boy was wondering the condition his father is about to give him, but his desire to know what was wrong was stronger than the fear of the condition . “What’s the condition father!?” The boy asked. “I will tell you on the condition that no one hears this, you have to make sure you keep it to yourself because if it gets to the king’s ear, we are both dead, you know how cruel the king is”.
Che promised to keep it to his self and asked his father to explain. His father prefer that they both go a nearby river (river kenaah) which he considers as the best place for their discussion and a very secure place. Bah-kum asks his son to wait around 5pm when all the farmers are back, so that nobody passes and suspect them as they discuss the secret by the river. The boy leaves and prepares to go with his dad to the river, very delighted to swallow all the secrets.
