“An Attempt to Kill the Truth”
Bah-kum leads the way to river kenaah, as soon as they get there, he seats on a stone by the river and asks Che to seat on another stone by his left.
“It’s fresh here” said Che, “yes , that why I choose this place for our discussion”.
“King Akwo is not the right king of this land” Bah-kum began explaining. “My grandfather , king Ngong the 1st had two sons who were twins: one was Kedzeh who is my late father and the other was Ndzeh who is my uncle the late king and father to the present king Akwo. My father Kedzeh was the eldest, hence the right heir to king Ngong’s throne, but my uncle Ndzeh was jealous and poisoned my father after king Ngong’s death, so that he will be crowned the king. My father died when I was just 10 but before he died, he told me that the throne belongs to me, and asked me to fight for it when I turn into a man.
My uncle Ndzeh became king and was very wicked. He killed my mother in my presence for refusing to herself to him. He died after ruling for 10 years before my cousin , king Akwo took over the throne. The king himself knows that the throne doesn’t belong to him because his late father told him everything. So he is doing all he can to kill the truth, he has even corrupted “pa Wanda” who is the messenger of the gods, to help him kill the truth.
I tried to fight for what belongs to me but I couldn’t win the throne because he has acquired powers. Despite his powers, he couldn’t kill me, that’s why he decided to kill your mother when you were just 2 years old, just to cause me pain.
So my son, at this juncture, I have decided to forgive him, forget the throne, and stay away from him in order to save my life and yours”.
Che was touched by story ” and you kept this away from me?” He asked his father, “don’t bother my son, now you know the whole truth so let’s just stay away from trouble, remember you promised to keep it to yourself!! And you have to know we are in a world I which people don’t want to hear the truth”.
They both left the river, but deep within him , Che promised to do something even without his father’s consent.
